# About mortalpings
**mortalpings** is a hyperlocal messaging platform designed to connect people instantly within their surroundings.
Unlike traditional messaging apps, mortalpings is built around the idea of **time-bound** and **location-based** communication.
With mortalpings, your messages:
• đ **Live for a limited time** — Messages automatically vanish after a set duration (1–24 hours).
• đ **Stay within your area** — Only people within your chosen radius (500m → 10km) can see your post.
• đ¸ **Show the reality** — Attach **Photos** to give immediate context to your pings.
• đ **Remain anonymous BUT accountable** — Each device / app install is assigned a stable UID. You also have a human-friendly displayId (e.g., MP-12345) that appears in the app. The UID lets us link actions for moderation (ban or mute) but does not reveal any personal identity information.
• đļ **Work even during patchy connectivity** — If you’re offline, your message (and attachments) are saved locally and auto-sent once the network returns.

## Organized Conversations
Your pings are organized for clarity:
- đŦ **Queries** – Questions or announcements.
- đ¨ī¸ **Regular Pings** – General updates or thoughts.
- đ **Replies** – Responses to a ping, equally time-bound & limited-by-radius.
- đī¸ **Market** – Vendor or service listings visible under the Market tab (replies are disabled).
All formats now support **Images**, so you can show a product in the Market or share an image with your reply to a Query.

Sometimes text isn't enough. mortalpings now lets you capture the moment fully:
- **Photos:** Snap a picture using the camera or pick one from your gallery. Ideal for "Found Object" posts, traffic updates, or local events.
*Note: Just like text, all attachments are ephemeral. They disappear from the feed once the time limit expires.*

- A **banner** clearly indicates “No Network.”
- Your text and attachments are **queued locally** and uploaded automatically once online.
